Venue dilemma
Another year and another soap opera beckoning over the venue for the final of the Copa del Rey which is to be played on May 27.
For the fourth consecutive season Barcelona are cup finalists and already supporters are pushing for the club to request that Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium be used as the venue for the match due to it's capacity.
Vicente Calderon, the neutrals option
Many neutrals would like to the see the show-piece game staged at Atletico Madrid's Vicente Calderon given that this is the last season that football will be staged at the ground beside the Manzanares river. The initiative has also been well received by club president Enrique Cerezo, who gave his backing for the ground to be used prior to Atletico's elimination by Barça in last night's first semi-final.
Once the winner of the second semi-final is resolved as Alaves and Celta Vigo battle over the other final berth, delegates from both teams will sit with representatives from the Spanish FA to explore a situable veure. One thing guaranteed is that the old debate which emerge year on year will no doubt ensue.
