Lionel Messi signs new contract with sponsor Adidas
The Argentinean finally put pen to paper and signed a new contract on Friday, but it wasn't the deal Barcelona fans had hoped and expected. Messi extended his deal with sponsor Adidas.

Lionel Messi has finally signed a new contract, but probably not the one that Barcelona fans had all been waiting for.
On Friday, the Argentinian forward renewed his deal with sponsor Adidas, for whom the 28-year old has become the clothing brand’s major global icon.

Barcelona deal still in negotiations
“Happy to continue working with Adidas for many more years,” Messi wrote on his official Facebook account.
The renewal is Messi’s first of 2017, and hopefully for Barça fans, won’t be the last. The Catalan club are currently negotiating terms of a new deal with the player’s representatives, and plan to put pen to paper by the end of the summer. Messi’s current contract at the club end in 2018.
