One person has been seriously injured in clashes in Vitoria ahead of Barcelona's LaLiga win over Alavés, with both clubs moving to condemn the violence.

One supporter arrested after incidents

According to reports, around 50 hooded fans attacked a group of approximately 20 Barça supporters outside a café in the northern Spanish city.

Amateur footage shows chairs being thrown and tables overturned, with a number of the individuals involved carrying baseball bats and metal bars.

The injured supporter was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries after the incidents, while a 19-year-old male was arrested by local police.

Alavés, Barcelona release statements

"Deportivo Alavés profoundly condemns the violent acts that took place today, 11 February, in the university zone between supposed fans of Alavés and FC Barcelona," the Basque outfit said in a statement.

"The club will put itself at the disposition of the authorities and, if it is confirmed that those implicated are season ticket holders, Deportivo Alavés will consider exemplary sanctions against those people."

Barça have also released a communiqué denouncing the events.

"FC Barcelona laments and condemns the incidents that occurred this afternoon in the city of Vitoria before the game against Deportivo Alavés," said the Catalan club.

"The Club reiterates its utter rejection of any violent conduct and trusts that the competent authorities will be able to verify the source and responsibility of these events as soon as possible."

Teams to face each other again in Copa final
