Danilo and Varane

Real Madrid completed their final training session ahead of Sunday's clash against Villarreal at Estadio de la Cerámica (20:45, CET). The only absentees were Varane and Danilo, who are both ruled out. The Frenchman will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a muscle injury, while the Brazilian is still suffering from a knock picked up against Osasuna at El Sadar.

One player, however, who continues to build momentum after a lengthy lay-off is Gareth Bale. The Welshman was back in action against both Espanyol and Valencia (scoring against Los Pericos), and is set to be included in Zidane's starting eleven.

Central pairing

The only other area of the Real squad yet to be resolved is in central defence. With Varane out, it will be a toss up between Pepe and Nacho as to who lines up with Sergio Ramos in the centre. On either side no surprises are expected - with both Carvajal and Marcelo - while the midfield is also set to be made up of Casemiro, Modric and Kroos.
