Mathieu: PSG's lack of humility did not go down well in Barça dressing room

The dust is still settling on Wednesday night's historic comeback by Barcelona after losing 4-0 in the first leg of the last 16 Champions League clash with PSG. And amidst the analysis, there are some interesting nuggets emerging, giving us a look at just what it was that motivated Luis Enrique's side to do the impossible at the Camp Nou.

Barça not impressed with lack of respect

Jeremy Mathieu, speaking to Radio Montecarlo, says that the PSG players were lacking in respect and humility after they beat Barcelona at the Parc des Princes in the first leg. "They are young and they are lacking a bit of humility," the French defender said.

"Rabiot and Kurzawa posted photos to social media after the 4-0 win. Marquinhos' partner also put a photo with her dog up, making the number four with her fingers. Things change fast in football. You have to wait until the game is finished to say something. Those gestures did not go down to well in the Barça dressing room," he continued.

Mathieu also explained the motive behind his gesture that showed him giving the middle finger in a post on Instagram. "It was a silly thing. Mascherano out up the wrong photo," he said.

"Mascherano made a mistake and we spoke about it," he continued. "I told him to be careful when he is putting up photos as it could cause a controversy. I want to express full respect to PSG and their fans."
