Relegation-threatened LaLiga side Sporting Gijón were left red-faced on Thursday after confusing their own fans with those of Atlético Madrid in a Twitter post.
The Asturian club took to the social-networking platform with news about their travelling support for their league clash at fellow strugglers Osasuna on 23 April.
However, the image used by the outfit's community managers shows fans of Atlético Madrid, who share Sporting's home colours of red and white stripes.
Many Sporting fans pick up on howler
The gaffe didn't go down well at all with the Gijón faithful, with the tweet receiving scores of angry responses pointing out the unfortunate oversight.
