BAYERN MUNICH-REAL MADRID

Ancelotti: No Florentino pressure over Real Madrid team selection

Bayern Munich's ex-Real boss also said that Manuel Neuer will be fit for the Champions League quarter-final tie against the LaLiga side.

Update:
Ancelotti: No Florentino pressure over Real Madrid team selection

Ex-Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has denied being put under pressure by Florentino Pérez over his team selection during his tenure as Los Blancos' boss.

Reports this week claim Real's president used media outlet diariobernabeu.com to send messages to Ancelotti in an attempt to influence his line-ups.

Ancelotti: "I was never pressured by Pérez"

Asked on Friday about the revelations, however, the current Bayern Munich coach said: "I was never pressured by Pérez to pick players. I don't know anything about that."

He continued: "Anyone who knows me knows that isn't possible. I was the one who picked the teams because I knew the players best and what shape they were in."

"My experience at Real Madrid was really good."

Neuer back in time for Champions League tie

The Italian also told reporters that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be fit for Bayern's Champions League quarter-final against Los Merengues.

Neuer underwent foot surgery in midweek, but Ancelotti said the 31-year-old was not in danger of missing the opening leg against Real on April 12th.

"He was training on Wednesday and he suffered a minor problem in his big toe," the former Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea and PSG supremo explained.

"The club's medical department decided an operation was best. He'll be ready for the game against Borussia [Dortmund] or the first leg against Madrid."
