Alarm bells sounded again at Bayern Munich’s training ground on Thursday as star striker Robert Lewandowski left the session after 40 minutes with a hamstring strain, two days before a crunch Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund and six days shy of the opening leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
The Poland striker left the session after a brief chat with manager Carlo Ancelotti and later sent a message to his fans saying that he will be fit for both encounters.
Neuer and Müller scares
Ancelotti already has injury concerns after Manuel Neuer recently underwent an operation on his foot and Thomas Müller picked up a knock against Augsberg that ruled him out of Tuesday’s defeat at Hoffenheim. Ancelotti has said that both will be available for the game against Madrid.
Douglas Costa has also been absent for Bayern’s last three Bundesliga games with a knee injury.
Lewandowski Bayern's top scorer
Lewandowski's availability will be a huge relief to Bayern: the striker has scored 36 goals this season while the club’s second highest-scorer, Arjen Robben, has managed 11.
