The Real Madrid fans in the Bernabéu for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich gave former player Xabi Alonso and former coach Carlo Ancelotti a stirring ovation when their names were read out over the tannoy.

The midfielder and coach were both part of the club's recent successes, being part of the set-up in the 2013/14 season when Real Madrid won the double of the Copa del Rey and the Décima, the 10th European Cup, winning the Champions League final in Lisbon.
