Anniversary of 'La Octava' and 'La Décima'

Real Madrid head to Wales having won all five of the finals they've contested in the Champions League era - with two of those victories falling on today's date. On 24 May 2000, goals by Fernando Morientes, Steve McManaman and Raúl secured Real's eighth European crown at Valencia's expense, before a last-gasp header by Sergio Ramos exactly 14 years later set Los Blancos up for an extra-time win over Atlético and a long-awaited tenth title.

Ex-Real Madrid boss Del Bosque looks ahead to final

The man in charge when Real lifted 'La Octava' in Paris was Vicente del Bosque - who then went on to lead the team to 'La Novena' in 2002 - and on Tuesday he offered his thoughts on Los Merengues' chances of success on 3 June: "Real Madrid are an excellent side and have a lot going in their favour as far as winning the final in Cardiff goes, but Juventus will be really tough opponents."

Bale and Carvajal pushing to make Juventus clash

Despite the Real Madrid players having a day off on Tuesday, recovering injury victims Gareth Bale (calf) and Dani Carvajal (thigh) were both at the club's Valdebebas training ground as they bid to be fit for the Champions League's showpiece event in a week and a half's time. Bale is better placed than Carvajal to make the final in his hometown; however, the Spaniard remains optimistic over his chances.

Danilo: Champions League final farewell?

If Carvajal doesn't overcome his thigh strain in time, Danilo is in line to deputise - in what might be his final appearance for Real Madrid. The Brazilian, a disappointment since his 31.5m-euro signing in 2015, has this season once again been thoroughly second best to 'Carva' in the fight for the right-back berth, and reports on Spanish radio this week suggest Real may be ready to flog the former FC Porto man to Inter Milan.

And finally...
