Former Real Madrid midfielder Steve McManaman caused bewilderment among television viewers with his analysis of Mario Mandzukic's goal for Juventus in Saturday night's Champions League final.

But in his role as a pundit for UK broadcaster BT Sports, 'Macca' bizarrely claimed that the spectacular goal was "like Subbuteo football" - in doing so comparing it to a table-soccer game in which the ball never takes to the air.
McManaman's curious description of the memorable strike prompted immediate and widespread derision on social media:
