Real Madrid reject United's opening offer for Morata

The Bernabéu board have turned down a €60m offer from Old Trafford according to Sky Italia, with Real valuing the Spain striker at €90m.

According to a report on Sky Italia, the bidding for Real Madrid striker Álvaro Morata has begun in earnest. The Bernabéu is said to have rejected an opening offer of 60 million euros from Manchester United for the Spain striker, which was in the form of a purely cash proposal without the inclusion of any player part-exchanges – or any mention of David de Gea – in the deal.

However, Real value Morata at closer to 90 million euros having exercised their buy-back option to bring the striker back from Juventus for a fee of 30 million last summer.

Morata has indicated that he would be open to a move from the Bernabéu as he struggled to dislodge Karim Benzema from Zinedine Zidane’s preferred 11 this season, but it is by no means certain that he will do so. The Real boss wants Morata to stay but the player told television reporters after Real’s Champions League triumph in Cardiff: “I don’t know if I’ll stay or not, it isn’t entirely up to me.”

Milan in the running

AC Milan are also keen to acquire Morata’s services but the Serie A giants are only prepared to go to 60 million euros themselves, the same amount that Real Madrid have apparently rejected from José Mourinho and Manchester United.
