Messi's Barcelona buy-out clause to increase to 400 million euros

Leo Messi has extended his contract with Barcelona by three years, with a further optional fourth season possible, according to reports on radio programme El Larguero on Cadena Ser. The striker's current deal runs to 2018, while his new deal will go to 2021 as a minimum, when current president Josep Maria Bartomeu's term ends.
The programme EL Club de la Mitjanit on Catalan based TV3 said on Monday that the striker would be earning 30 million euros after tax a year with the proposed new contract.
Messi buy-out clause increases to 400 million euros
According to El Larguero, there's another major change to the player's terms and conditions: his buy-out clause will rise from it's current 250 million euros to 400 million euros. With that Barcelona clearly want to ward off potential suitors for a player who is expected to be a vital part of the new Valverde era.
The president of Barcelona, Bartomeu, has personally taken charge of the negotiations with the star striker for Barcelona, while Messi's father, Jorge Messi, represented the player.
Messi new deal to be signed after 30 June
As reported by Spanish radio show El Larguero, the new deal won't be signed until after 30 June, for accounting reasons, with the related costs being booked next season.
With this new contract Messi will tie himself to Barcelona until he is 34 or 35 years old.
