Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s time at Borussia Dortmund could be coming to an end. According to L’Équipe, the Bundesliga club would be willing to let the striker leave in return for €70m.
The French newspaper also stated that Atlético Madrid and Manchester United both made offers for the Gabonese international in the summer of 2016.
Aubameyang placed his Dortmund future in doubt
Dortmund’s change of position could facilitate the player’s exit. Aubameyang cast doubt upon his future at the club in an interview immediately after the final match of the Bundesliga season.
As with every other potential deal this summer, an Atlético move for Aubameyang would be complicated by the fact that the Los Rojiblancos cannot sign players until January, as a result of a FIFA-imposed transfer ban.
Atlético are not the only interested party
Manchester United could return for the player they bid for last summer, if the Old Trafford do not manage to sign Álvaro Morata. Yet not only Atlético and United have shown interest in the player. Manchester City, PSG, Liverpool and AC Milan are also keen.
The player has spoken of PSG in glowing terms in the past: “PSG have the ambition to win the Champions League, and that is of particular interest for a player like me.”
Dortmund deliver an ultimatum
This week, Bild announced that Dortmund have given the player an ultimatum: he must decide his future by July 26, which is when the team return to training.
The Dortmund administrative director, Hans-Joachim Watzke spoke to the German publication: “the club [Dortmund] is willing to listen to offers if another team is willing to financially express the interest they have for Aubameyang.”
