Newly-promoted LaLiga side Girona plan to make between 10 and 15 signings this summer. As a result, the sporting director Quique Cárcel has an extensive list of transfer targets. According to Sky Sports, Seydou Doumbia is the latest player to form part of that wish list.

Doumbia would fit Girona's target profile

The Ivory Coast striker is currently surplus to requirements at Roma, which could result in a loan move to Catalonia. He is also on the radar of Valencia and Sporting Lisbon, while Fenerbahçe have also enquired about his availability.

It is clear that Girona are targeting experienced players ahead of their first season in the top flight, and Doumbia fits that profile. The 29-year-old is under contract in Rome until 2019. As such, Girona may plant the possibility of a loan deal with an option to buy if the player settles well in Pablo Machín’s team.

Big hit at Basel

Doumbia spent last season on loan at Basel, where he found the net 20 times in 25 league matches. His performances in Switzerland were exceptional, but Basel did not exercise their right to buy Doumbia. He will return to Roma before heading back out on loan. Girona may well be his destination.
