Atlético Madrid have completed a deal for Vitolo, with the winger signing a five-year contract after his 35.7m-euro Sevilla release clause was met on Wednesday.

Vitolo to go to Las Palmas until end of Atlético's FIFA ban

In a statement on their website, Atlético confirmed that the Spain cap will play for UD Las Palmas until the Madrid club's FIFA registration ban is lifted in January.

Las Palmas, Vitolo's hometown team, have also announced the interim arrangement, which sees him initially return to the club where he began his career.

Having come through the Canary Islanders' youth ranks, the 27-year-old made 90 first-team appearances for Los Amarillos before joining Sevilla in 2013.

After flying to Madrid on Tuesday, Vitolo underwent a medical with Atleti on Wednesday morning before activating his Sevilla release clause at LaLiga's offices.

Sevilla announce new Vitolo contract before 11th-hour Atleti offer

The transfer takes place despite Sevilla chief José Castro saying on Monday that Vitolo had agreed to a new, five-year contract at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

However, a last-ditch offer from Atlético persuaded the player - who had not yet signed his fresh Sevilla terms - to move to the Spanish capital, via Las Palmas.
