Ander Herrera has played his way into becoming a key part of Mourinho's Manchester United side and is currently one of three Spaniards in the Red Devils' dressing room. After playing in United's first pre-season friendly - a 5-2 win over LA Galaxy - the midfielder spoke to the Spanish press.
Barcelona and Real Madrid
After quashing any rumours linking him to a move to Barcelona at the beginning of the summer ("There was nothing. I'm very happy at United and I feel appreciated", he insisted), the Basque midfielder is already looking ahead at their upcoming game against Real Madrid in Santa Clara: "They are the strongest side right now, and there's motivation to play against them because it's a good test for us. If we had to play against Juventus I'd be equally motivated. It's the UEFA Super Cup", he said.
Morata and De Gea
Herrera will also come up against fellow Spaniard Álvaro Morata, who was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford: "I even started to think I'd be playing with Morata. He was really close to signing," he admitted. "It's a shame he's not with us but he's a top striker and will do well wherever he plays". Herrera also went on to talk about David de Gea, and the recent talk linking him once again to Los Blancos: "He's happy and I know this is going to sound repetitive because I always say the same by David is one of the few keepers who wins you points. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure he stays," he added.
