Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has agreed a new, improved two-year contract with the Premier League champions.

The fresh deal does not extend the terms he penned when he was appointed in 2016, but reportedly makes him the highest-paid coach in the club's history.

Premier League winner in first season at Chelsea

Last season, the 47-year-old ex-Italy and Juventus boss led Chelsea to the English title in his first campaign at the Blues, also leading the side to the FA Cup final.

"I am very happy to have signed a new contract with Chelsea," Conte told Chelsea's official website following Tuesday's confirmation of the agreement, which ends recent speculation that he could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Conte: "Now we must work even harder"

"We worked extremely hard in our first year to achieve something amazing, which I am very proud of. Now we must work even harder to stay at the top.

"The Chelsea fans have given me so much support since I arrived here one year ago and it is important we continue to succeed together."

Meanwhile, club director Marina Granovskaia said: "Antonio achieved incredible success last season, adapting to English football very quickly and leading us to the Premier League title.

"This new contract reflects our belief that he can continue to deliver results both domestically and as we return to European competition in the Champions League."
