Brazilian media UOL Esporte report that the final flecks of Danilo's transfer to Manchester City have been ironed out and the move will be officially announced by both clubs in the next few hours. The right-back will join Guardiola's team for 36 million euros and sign a five-year contract.
Danilo's career to take a new direction with City move
Danilo had been weighing up his chances of getting regular playing time next season, whilst knowing that Zidane's preference at right-back is Dani Carvajal. However, the contact his agents made with Chelsea and more recently, with Guardiola have convinced him that he will probably be better off leaving. World Cup Russia is less than a year away and Danilo wants to be active to have a chance of entering the Brazil squad.
Zidane doesn't want the defender to leave - as he would have played a valuable part in his rotation policy as Madrid aim to win all six of the competitions they are in this season. But the coach also knew that if a good offer came in, the club would sell him. Inter Milan were the first to make enquiries, then Juventus and in the last few weeks Chelsea and City have pushed to sign the player. Manchester City's offer was the only one close to Real Madrid's asking price.
In the next few hours, Danilo will quit Real Madrid's camp at UCLA, Los Angeles to fly out to Manchester where he will compete with new arrival Kyle Walker for a place in Guardiola's team.
