Málaga confirm interest in Esteban Rolón
AS sources within Málaga confirm interest in the Argentinos Juniors midfielder, while the Argentine club's president says an offer has been made.
Málaga continue to reinforce ahead of the coming season. On Thursday, the club announced the arrival of Emanuel Cecchini from Banfield, but their work in Argentina is not yet complete. Málaga are also interested in Esteban Rolón, Argentinos Juniors’ defensive midfielder.
Málaga confirm Rolón interest
AS sources within Málaga have confirmed that Rolón is on their list of targets, while Argentinos Juniors are already talking openly of ‘an offer from Málaga”.
The president of Argentinos Juniors, Cristian Malaspina, confirmed to TyC Sports that Málaga have placed a formal offer for Rolón.
“There is an offer from Málaga […], it is being analysed,” said Malaspina. The president of the La Paternal-based club assured that he will give more weight to offers that include the possibility of Rolón returning to Argentinos for a year on loan, and that the club does not have “the intention to sell youngsters”.
Key to Argentinos Juniors promotion
The 22-year-old was a key figure as Gabriel Heinze’s Argentinos side achieved promotion to the Argentine Primera after just one season in the second division. Rolón played a defensive role in the midfield, but is also adept at collecting the ball from the centre-halves and building attacks. As such, he would likely fill the position vacated by Ignacio Camacho, who has joined Wolfsburg.
He has been linked to Independiente and Boca Juniors in recent weeks, but a move to Europe now appears the most likely outcome.
