Zidane: "I'm happy with my squad; I don't want any changes"
The Real Madrid boss batted away questions about possible transfers ahead of the friendly Clásico against Barcelona in Miami.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press ahead of his side’s friendly match against Barcelona in Miami.
Clásico: "We’re looking forward to it. We’re ready to play the game and to play as well as we can and that’s what we’re preparing for. It’s our third game [of pre-season] and we want to get stronger physically. The players are getting better all the time and we’re working towards being ready to start the season on August 8. There are a lot of Real Madrid fans here and we’re happy to be here.”
Barcelona and Neymar’s possible departure: “We’ll see soon enough. He is a very good player and the opposition, what can I say? They are a very strong side and they have always been Madrid’s biggest rivals. It will be an entertaining game. What we are interested in is putting in a good performance. We’re not happy with the result against City but the performance wasn’t bad and we hope to play better this time.”
Transfers: “I’m relaxed about it and happy with the squad. We have the best and we won with this squad and we hope to do the same thing again. We have a very squad and I don’t want any changes. Only Cristiano isn’t with us at the moment and we know it is going to be a difficult season; everybody wants to beat us and that makes it more interesting for us.”
US tour: “We’re happy with everything. In terms of organization it has been incredible and the welcome we have received equally so, and we’ve had time to do what we have wanted to in terms of football. The climate here is different, but other than that we’re all happy with how everything has gone up to now.”
Cristiano: “I’m not worried that he won’t be with us for the game. He has to enjoy his holidays. Everybody else is ready. On August 5 he’ll be back with us to start the season.”
Mistakes against City: “We will try to be fully concentrated. Football is about the details. If we play the way we did the other day we'll be happy, but not with the result. We conceded from set-pieces and we have to concentrate more in that respect and to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
