After their sixth defeat in a row this summer against Lazio on Saturday night (1-0), manager Míchel issued a statement to Malaga's owners that he wants Javi Garcia. The former Real Madrid player had Garcia during his time at Real Madrid Castilla and says the player is keen on a move. Abdullah Al-Thani, however, wants Estaban Rolon and Michel is less convinced.

"We just have to press the button to get Javi Garcia. I don't know about the money but we need reinforcements. If we were to hit the button, he would be here. I have spoken to him and I know what he thinks. The player would be delighted to come here but I don't know about the finances. We are looking for a central midfielder and that could be Garcia especially when you lose a player like Ignacio Camacho," Míchel said before he finished with a statement to make sure his words were not misunderstood, "For me, the priority is Javi García."

And then came a response for Abdullah Al Thani, "With all due respect, Javi García is not a target for Malaga," but he later backed his manager despite very publicly contradicting what he said. "I have confidence that Míchel will create a very strong team." The manager appeared on El Larguero on Cadena Ser just after that and said, "the team has been dismantled and is will cost a lot to fix it."
