Barcelona haven't had a player sent off in a Clásico since 2 March 2013, meanwhile since that date, Real Madrid have been left with 10 players on five occasions. And in the last five matches between the two sides a Real Madrid player has been sent off on four occasions.

Cristiano Ronalod's double yellow in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup at the Camp Nou on Sunday merely increased the list of Real Madrid's expulsions in recent years against Barcelona.

Barcelona's last Clásico sending-off

Barcelona, on the other hand, haven't had a player dismissed in a Clásico since 2 March 2013, when Victor Valdés was handed his marching orders with the game having finished. Valdés was sent off for hurling abuse at referee Pérez Lasa for not giving a penalty for a challenge by Ramos on Adriano at the end of the game, with Barça losing 2-1.

The last Barcelona player to be dismissed during play was Adriano, who got an early bath on 29 August 2012.

Real Madrid's Clásico red cards

Since Valdés was sent off in 2013, Real Madrid and Barcelona have played each other in 11 competitive matches, with Real Madrid seeing red on five occasions.

23 March 2014: Sergio Ramos was sent off just after the hour mark. At that point Real Madrid were winning 3-2. They lost 3-4.

21 November 2015: Isco was sent off for a nasty challenge on Luis Suárez. Barcelona ran out 0-4 winners in the Bernabéu.

2 March 2016: Sergio Ramos again.

23 April 2017: Sergio Ramos again, this time he blamed Piqué for the sending off, shouting "We'll talk" at the Barcelona defender after he'd got his marching orders.

13 August 2017: Cristiano Ronaldo, for first showing off his muscles and then diving.
