Atletico Madrid travel north to Girona to take part in the first ever game at Montilivi after Girona earned promotion for the first time to the top flight last season by finishing second behind Levante in the Segunda division. They are the 62nd team to play in the top flight and could hardly have met a tougher opponent in their first game.
Their manager, Pablo Machín says they will not back down from anyone and are keen to prove themselves worthy of playing in the top division.
