Karim Benzema to sign contract extension with Madrid this week

In France, 'Le Journal du Dimanche' reports today that Karim Benzema will sign a new contract, keeping him at Real Madrid until 2021, before September.

In France, Le Journal du Dimanche reports today that Karim Benzema will renew his contract with Real Madrid by the end of the month. The French weekly claims that the Real Madrid striker will sign a new agreement which will keep him at the Bernabéu until June 2021.

It will be the second time that Benzema has had his contract reviewed since he joined Madrid in the summer of 2009. He was handed a considerable pay rise when he renewed for the first time in 2014, seeing his salary go from five million euros per year after tax to eight million. He will also be awarded a pay increase this time and should he see out the remaining years of his new contract, he will have spent over a decade at the club.

His most productive season in front of goal was in 2015/16 when he finished on 24 league goals and averaged 0.8 goals per game.
