Zidane: "A dependence on Cristiano? I always want him to be with us"
Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Real Madrid on Wednesday and Zinedine Zidane is happy to have him back.
Cristiano Ronaldo has not played an official game for Real Madrid since the middle of August. With Zinedine Zidane admitting that the squad, perhaps, misses a number 9, Ronaldo's importance to the side is as evident as ever. Zidane answered questions on Ronaldo ahead of Real Madrid's clash with APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday.
How do you see Cristiano? "He is good and concentrating on what he needs to do. And he is excited to play again as this is what he likes to do. He just wants to play football. We are happy too because he feels good and is feeling good physically. In his head, with everything that has happened, he feels good and I am happy to see him on the field.
A dependence on Cristiano? "You know who Cristiano is. We can't talk about a dependence on him but I always want him to be with us."
What does Cristiano bring? "Cristiano doesn't just bring goals. He is a very important player for the squad. He is a leader and always wants to win and he transmits that to the rest of the squad. Whenever he is with us, we are happy."
Is it a relief to have Cristiano back? "We are happy that Cristiano returns. And that's it. We will play tomorrow and we won't have him on Sunday. I hope that it's the last time we have to play without him this season."
