Injuries

Most notable of late has been the long injury list plaguing Zidane's squad, with Marcelo, Theo Hernández, Jesús Vallejo, Mateo Kovacic and Karim Benzema all set to miss Tuesday's game. The player closest to making a return is Toni Kroos, who, despite not training, will wait to see on Monday whether he is deemed fit to play by the club's medical team.

 Recovery

The Madrid players who featured in Saturday's game in LaLiga worked to recover from their exertions - Keylor Navas, Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane and Isco Alarcón all trained in the indoor facilities at Real's Ciudad Real training complex. Gareth Bale, meanwhile, was rested at the Mendizorroza Stadium and is set to start in Germany as Madrid look to remedy their current travails in front of goal.
