Silva and Manchester City contract talks stagnate
The Spanish international is in talks with Manchester City with a view to extending his contract beyond 2019, when it is currently set to expire. Yet the negotiations, which have been ongoing for several months, are close to collapse.
David Silva is currently in his eighth season at the Etihad Stadium, where he arrived from Valencia for €33 million. Despite creeping in to his thirties, the man from the Canaries continues to be a key player for Pep Guardiola, and Julen Lopetegui’s Spanish national team.

Interest from both Milan-based clubs has filtered out from Italy. Both are going through a phase of regeneration and see 31-year-old Silva as the ideal figure to lead that change. Manchester City are not willing to listen to offers at the moment, but that could change if his contract negotiations continue to stagnate.
