BARCELONA

Yerri Mina's January move to Barcelona depends on Valverde

Barça have all but wrapped up the signing of Colombian centre-back who is on the books at Palmeiras for nine million euros.

If Ernesto Valverde, Pep Segura and Robert Fernández give the go-ahead, Yerri Mina will become a Barcelona player in the January transfer window. Barça have practically sewn up the signing of the Colombian central defender, who is on the books at Palmeiras and who is currently recovering from a fractured metatarsal injury which he suffered in the Copa de Libertadores Last 16 tie against Barcelona de Guayaquil back in August. Apart from gaining the green light from the coach and his technical department, Barça simply need to pay Palmeiras the nine million euro asking price.

Vermaelen's Barcelona days are numbered

Barça have no place for Thomas Vermaelen, who remains in the first team squad only as a consequence of the club's failure to bring in Real Sociedad's Iñigo Martínez over the summer. Iñigo was the preferred candidate to strengthen the central defensive positions but the club suddenly had a change of heart and withdraw all interest in the player - much to La Real's relief. Yerri Mina would occupy the position of the team's fourth choice at the back, after Piqué, Umtiti and Mascherano.
