Sevilla have released a statement voicing their concern over the "criteria necessary to alter match schedules should weather forecasts predict high temperatures". José Castro, the club's president, complained after their game against Malaga last weekend was played in temperatures in the mid-30s, at 16:15, one of the warmest times of the day in the notoriously warm city.

Photos of fans passed out in the stands and needing treatment surfaced on social media along with criticism from the fans.

The club has received a commitment from the league to take into account the times games are being played if the weather is forecast to reach 35 degrees, provided they are run by television operators and are given the thumbs up.

The statement released by the club says, "The next formal step will be taken on the 5th of October in the Assembly of La Liga Clubs, where Sevilla FC Chairman, José Castro, will formally request an alteration of the regulations and ask for more flexibility in the changing of schedules in future should circumstances dictate their alteration and a request be made with due notice."
