The Polish official has been in charge twice before at the Bernabéu, with a win and a draw for the home side against Roma and Borussia Dortmund.

Polish referee Szymon Marciniak has been placed in charge of Real Madrid’s Champions League Group H home game against Tottenham Hotspur, while Italian official Gianluca Rocchi will oversee Sevilla’s Group E trip to Moscow to play Spartak.

Marciniak, 37, will be assisted by his compatriots Pawel Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz, with the Polish official having refereed two Real Madrid matches previously, the 2-2 group stage draw against Borussia Dortmund last season and the 2-0 victory over Roma in the last 16 in 2015-16.

Rocchi, 44, will have Elenito Di Liberatore and Filippo Meli running the lines for him in the Otkritie Arena and recently officiated in the European Super Cup between Real Madrid and Manchester United. The last time he was in charge for a Sevilla game was in 2013-14 in the Sánchez Pizjuán, when the home side beat Porto 4-1in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
