Keylor Navas made a return to Real Madrid training on Sunday and is working to be fit in time to feature against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

The Costa Rica keeper returned from the international break, during which his side secured their place at the 2018 World Cup, carrying a muscle problem in his leg and missed the 2-1 victory at Getafe on Saturday, being replaced by Kiko Casilla.

During Sunday’s session Zinedine Zidane allowed those that had featured in the Coliseum to do light work with Casilla, Achraf, Nacho, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Marco Asensio, Lucas Vázquez, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo stretching their legs with some jogging work after a spell in the gym.

Sergio Ramos was given the day off after a vomiting episode before the Getafe game that required treatment with saline solution but is expected to return to training on Monday.

Navas was put through tougher paces during the session, working on shot stopping and one-on-ones and it appears he will be fit to play on Tuesday.

Zidane made up the numbers with Castilla players Belman, Jaume, Toni, Fidalgo and Mancebo, as well as under-19 keeper Moha, who was on the bench in the Coliseum.

Dani Carvajal, who was diagnosed last week with a heart problem, remains absent along with Mateo Kovacic and Gareth Bale, who are recovering from their injuries.
