Fuenlabrada coach reels off starting XI to face Real Madrid on the eve of the game
Straight from the Jose Mourinho textbook. Antonio Calderón told La COPE's El Partidazo programme his starting XI for tonight's Copa tie at the Fernando Torres.
While the majority of coaches like to keep their team news close to their chests until an hour or two before kick-off, Fuenlabrada boss Antonio Calderón took a leaf out of José Mourinho's book and announced the XI who will start tonight's Copa del Rey meeting with Real Madrid 24 hours in advance. Calderón reeled off his team in last nights El Partidazo programme on Cadena COPE, in which he was joined by Fuenla president Jonathan Praena.
Fuenlabrada coach reveals his line-up against Madrid
Calderón was asked whether he had settled on the eleven players who will start tonight's tie, and replied by giving the line-up who will face Zidane's team at the Fernando Torres stadium last tonight: Codina; Mikel Iribas, Cata Díaz, Armando, Fran García; Milla, Miguel Ángel Atienza; Hugo Fraile, Quero, Dani Fernández and Dioni.
Former Madrid keeper Codina to face old club
Goalkeeper Jordi Codina will get the chance to face his old club - as will ex-madridista, Dani Fernández who switches from left-back to a more advanced role. The big surprise was the inclusion of Iribas in place of Jaume at right-back. Youth team player Miguel Ángel Atienza lines up alongside Luis Milla in the centre of the park.
In total, 19 players make up the Fuenlabrada squad for the game although Calderón must discard three players on the day of the game in accordance with Copa del Rey rules which state that squads must have a maximum of 16 players in the Round of 32 when teams from the Segunda Division B and Third Division are involved.
