Vitolo urges caution: "Real Madrid in crisis? I doubt it"
Vitolo says Las Palmas cannot fall into the trap of believing Real Madrid will be under par when they meet on Sunday: "They'll go all out to beat us".
It seems that things are finally starting to look up for Víctor Machín 'Vitolo': “I didn't expect the start of the season to turn out the way it did, suffering two injuries one after another", the Atlético loanee confessed today. "Those injuries stopped me from being at 100% but now I'm feeling much better. Let's hope I can continue improving so that I can help the team; the most important thing is that the team gets back on its feet".
Las Palmas and Vitolo seeking a positive result in Madrid on Sunday
On Sunday, Las Palmas are guests of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, and Vitolo assures that their chances of success will hinge "on Madrid having an off day and us playing at our best". Another factor, he explained, would be Las Palmas "committing as few mistakes as possible because Madrid can decide a game in the blink of an eye".
Pako Ayesterán's team entered the relegation places after Monday's 1-3 defeat to Deportivo and Vitolo believes now more than ever, the team needs unity: "Our situation isn't good, we haven't won many of our games and now we have to do everything we can to put in a good display. Motivation is one thing we won't need at the Bernabéu. It's a thrill for us to play there and enjoy apart from enjoying our football, we will also be forced to compete which perhaps is what we've been lacking. We're already motivated, we domn't need anyone to remind us where we will be playing".
"Madrid is crisis? No chance"
Vitolo had a word for new boss Pako Ayesterán and Sunday's hosts who, like the islanders are feeling sorry for themselves after last night's defeat to Tottenham at Wembley. "We've noticed the change since Pako has come in; he's a great person, a coach who likes his team to play the ball around intelligently. He's arrived at a difficult moment but we are delighted with him and we believe he has got what it takes to steer the team back to where it should be". As for Madrid, who go into this weekend's game on the back of two defeats and with just two wins at home in the league this season, he warned: "You can never underestimate those kinds of teams because they are so good that they can beat you in an instant. I don't believe that Real Madrid are suffering a crisis and I'm sure they'll go all out to beat us".
