However, the defining image of the Frenchman's afternoon wasn't an image of him sitting on the bench after being replaced by José María Giménez, but rather one taken before the game was even underway.
As Diego Simeone's men posed for the traditional pre-match team photo in Galicia, Griezmann moved away from the camera a moment too early, resulting in a curious snapshot that quickly went viral.
