Sevilla snap up Corinthians left back Guilherme Arana
The Brazil under-20 international, who was sounded out in the summer, has signed a contract up to 2022 pending a medical.
Sevilla FC have announced the signing of Brazil under-20 international Guilherme Arana from Corinthians, pending a medical examination. Once the formalities have been conducted, Arana, 20, will put pen to paper on a deal running until 2022 at the Sánchez Pizjuán.
Sevilla made an approach for Arana in the summer but Corinthians’ demands scuppered a deal going through. However, after signing Lionel Carole on loan from Galatasaray to provide cover in the left-back position negotiations continued and with Arana now on board that deal is likely to be cut short in January with Carole already fighting for a place in the side with club captain Sergio Escudero.
Arana leaves Corinthians with two titles in the bag
Arana helped Corinthians to the Paulista and Brasileiro Série A titles in 2017 and tearfully bade farewell to the club’s fans after his final game. He is expected to arrive in Seville next week to undergo a medical and apply the final touches to his transfer before being presented as a Sevilla player.
