Chelsea striker Álvaro Morata has been speaking with Spanish TV news programme, Telediario on Televisión Española. During the interview the young player spoke about his current vein of good form – scoring 10 in 20 games – and also reflected on the contrasting opportunities that he had under Zinedine Zidane after returning to Real Madrid the previous year.

Being missed at Madrid and Conte difference

With the troubles his former club are having in front of goal, many fans have been questioning the decision to sell the striker and some pining after him. Morata was asked what he thought.

“I don’t know if they miss me or not but it’s nice to hear what they are saying. I wish they didn’t have to say it though as that would mean things were going well [for them].”

On his current manager, Antonio Conte, the 25-year old highlighted a key difference about playing time to the experience he had in Spain.

“He helps you to grow because you can never get too comfortable or find a comfort zone. He wants every single one of us give our maximum. Last year I wasn’t playing often:”

Moving to London and the Premier League

And that move from hope to likelihood of playing has had a positive impact of his new footballing life in London:

“To know that in every game there’s a real chance of playing, if you train well you are going to play. If I had been looking for things like money or a city I would have stayed at home, where I had everything.”

On the subject of swapping the styles of LaLiga to the Premier League he confirmed what most understand about the two competitions:

"Almost all [Premier League] players are athletes. Technically it is not like in Spain but the players are very strong physically. The changing rooms are smaller than the ones I've been in so far. Ours is made of wood."

World Cup hopes and Cristiano Ronaldo

When asked about his hopes for a World Cup call-up he was modest enough despite being the hottest Spanish striker out there right now:

"I hope Lopetegui makes calls to my friends and me," he replied.

But he also had a message for group rivals Portugal and specifically their talisman, Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo:

"We hope that he [Cristiano] scores many goals for Madrid but that he will be tired when the World Cup comes around.”
