Brazilian manager, Luiz Felipe Scolari, the current coach of Guangzhou Evergrande in China's SuperLeague, backs up the claims from Renato Gaucho's that he "was a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo".

The current coach of Gremio, the side that play Real Madrid in the Club World Cup final on Saturday said, "I have no doubt. I would like to see him play in the teams I played for, without being paid for three or four months and to continue being a champion like I did. I would like to have played at Real Madrid, with games once a week on wonderful pitches and with the teammates he has."

"Ronaldo is a great player, but not as versatile as I was. He is very strong but he doesn't have much technique. This generation hasn't seen me play, who ever did get the chance to see me, has a different opinion," he continued.

For Scolari, a compatriot of the Gremio manager, he says, "I think Renato was a better player but Cristiano is more of a goalscorer." The former Brazil national team manager also took time to praise the work of Renato at Gremio, "The work the team has done all started with Renato, he drove it on with his quality and his style," Scolari continued.

Renato Gaucho played with Gremio, Flamengo, Fluminense and Cruzeiro during his career with a brief stint at Roma. He also played for the national side and won a Copa América.
