Mascherano set for €10M Hebei China Fortune FC move
Sevilla - Barcelona: Copa del Rey quarter-final
Javier Mascherano and Barça have reached an agreement that will see the Argentine defender move to the Chinese Super League joining Hebei China Fortune in a move set to be valued at 10 million euros according to ESPN.
Two executives from the Chinese side have been sent to the Catalan capital to see the move through and according to ESPN, the player's agent Walter Tamer acknowledges that Barcelona have accepted the ten million euro fee. The player has been given limited playing time this season under Ernesto Valverde and with his strong desire to represent Argentina at next summer's World Cup has decided to "pursue his own happiness" as he recently put it, in China.
Big earnings
The move can be made official with the opening of the Chinese winter transfer window (which operates from January 1st through to February 28, 2018) and will see Barcelona remove another high wage bill from their outgoings with Mascherano reported to earn 5.5 million euro per year at the club. ESPN add that the defender is expected to pocket 19 million euro for his two seasons in China where he joins up with fellow country man Manuel Pellegrini currently manning the Hebei bench.
