Barça strategy to sign Atlético's Griezmann - El Larguero
The mega-money signing of Coutinho from Liverpool has not put a stop to the plans to bring Atlético's star man to the Camp Nou on a salary near Messi and Suárez.
Spanish TV programme El Larguero on Cadena SER has revealed new information on the offer that FC Barcelona are planning to obtain the services of Atlético Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.
Barça's Griezmann deal and salary
The deal, which some observers suggested was unlikely following the 160 million outlay for Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, would involve the current Liga leaders paying the 100-million-euro buy-out clause for the Frenchman. The idea would then be to offer him a contract that brings him to the same salary region as top earners Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi.
Those close to the player have made it clear that the discussions have reached an advanced stage and that the key to the signing will be the financial package offered to him. The expectation is that he would come in somewhere behind the Argentine idol and on the scale of the Uruguayan, while the contract itself would be for five years.
Manchester United, heading a list of other elite clubs, have also shown a clear interest in the Atlético frontman with a potential 22 million euros annually being considered.
