Gianluca Di Marzio, a Sky Sports contributor, has stated that Madrid will target the Egypt international as their next Galactico signing.

Real Madrid need to change the negative atmosphere that has engulfed their LaLiga title defence. And with PSG visiting in the Champions League, Los Blancos must do so as soon as possible. Liverpool's Mohamed Salah could be the key to a rise in confidence.

Salah could provide post-Coutinho boost

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has maintained that he is happy with the players at his disposal. "We don't need anyone. I don't want anyone," he insisted on Tuesday. Yet the European press continue to mention Mo Salah as a possible arrival at the Bernabéu.

Gianlucadimarzio.com reports that Madrid will attempt to prise Salah from Liverpool, where he arrived from AS Roma in June 2017 for an initial fee of €42 million. The transfer would be a response to Barcelona's big-money signing of Phillipe Coutinho from the Merseyside club, according to the same report.

African Player of the Year

Salah is one of the most in-from players in the world. The 25-year-old has scored 23 goals in 29 appearances since moving to the Premier League. Only Harry Kane has been more prolific. That rich vein of form resulted in Salah picking up the African Player of the Year prize in Accra at the start of January.

The former Chelsea winger has played for Liverpool in the Champions League this season. He would therefore be unable to feature in that competition for Madrid, were the transfer to take place in the January window.

Héctor Cúper, coach of the Egypt national team, confirmed in December that he has received reports of Real Madrid's interest in Salah.
