New York Times looks at Martin Odegaard's career so far

The celebrated US based daily looks at the Norwegian player's brief career and his continuing ambition to triumph with Real Madrid.

'The New York Times' has dedicated an article on the career of Norwegian Martin Odegaard, with the Real Madrid player currently plying his trade on loan with dutch top flight side Heerenveen. The teenager still harbors hope of making at return to the Santiago Bernabeu outfit and establishing a place in the first time.

Odegaard was singled out as one of the great promises in the European game when he broke thorough as a 15-year-old playing in the Norwegian first division with Strømsgodset being the youngest player ever to play in the Norwegian top flight and his international debut soon followed.

The New York Times article recalls how the player was highly coveted by some of the biggest names in the game with the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United interested in securing his signature. Finally the player pit pen to paper with Real Madrid, playing with the reserve side RM Castilla where he was coached by Zinedine Zidane. After failing to break through to the first team, the player was sent on loan to the Eredevise.
