Vinicus Junior claimed his first professional title this weekend as he helped Flamengo. The rubronegro overcame Boavista 0-2 to take the Copa Guanabara for the 21st time in the club's history, a tournament that falls into the Campeonato Carioca competition.

Vinicius makes his mark on title win

In the triumph, there was some doubt as to whether or not the 17-year old knew much about the goal he scored after getting a slight touch to a cross-shot from Everton Ribeiro. That goal came just minutes after the youngster had joined proceedings from the bench and gave his side the two-goal cushion.

Speaking with TV Globo Vinicius commented on his involvement in the goal:

"I don't know. The important thing is that it was a goal for Flamengo and we won the cup."

Winning the Copa Guanabara gives Flamengo an automatic place in the semi-finals of the Campeonato Carioca and Vinicius will hope to play more of a role for the Rio de Janeiro club.

Controversy doesn't distract Real Madrid star

Leading up to this game, the promising forward had created some controversy with his celebration after scoring against Rio rivals Botafogo. He was happy to brush that off though:

"I don't normally look at the repercussions of things. I didn't allow it to distract me. I prefer to stay at home having fun with the family and now we can enjoy this title."
