Wilkins belittles Sevilla ahead of Manchester United clash
The former England player reckons Sevilla would struggle in the Premier League, ahead of the Spanish side's Champions League clash against Manchester United.
Ray Wilkins, former Manchester United and England midfielder, decided to have a go at Sevilla ahead of the Spanish side's Champions League last 16 tie against Manchester United, with Wilkins unable to take Sevilla seriously as a threat.
Wilkins did admit the tie could be "tricky" but then went on to claim: "I don't think it's anything that should really stand in the way, is it? You know, where would Sevilla be in the Premier League? Bottom six? Probably."
Sevilla fifth in LaLiga
The comment, made on Alan Brazil's Sports Breakfast on Talksport, was met instantly by a barrage of replies on social media, most reminding Wilkins that Sevilla have won five Europa Leagues in the past 12 years (winning three in a row in 2014, 15, 16), the UEFA Super Cup, and are currently placed fifth in LaLiga, which has now held the highest UEFA coefficient for several years now.
