Luis Suárez should be punished for yellow card bid - LaLiga chief
Javier Tebas says Luis Suárez should be punished for his seeming bid to incur a one-match suspension in Barcelona's LaLiga win over Girona.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas has slammed Barcelona striker Luis Suárez for his apparent attempts to get himself booked in the league leaders' 6-1 victory over Girona on Saturday.
Suárez appeared to try to get booked against Girona
Suárez committed a number of fouls late on in a seeming bid to earn a fifth yellow card of the season, which would have resulted in a one-match LaLiga ban against lowly Las Palmas on Thursday - and would have wiped his disciplinary slate clean ahead of this weekend's top-of-the-table clash with Atlético Madrid.
However, the Uruguayan international went unpunished by referee Javier Alberola, who did show a suspension-inducing yellow to Barça defender Jordi Alba in the closing stages at the Camp Nou.

Speaking to the Spanish radio station Cadena Cope on Monday, Tebas declared that Suárez should be sanctioned for his actions against Girona. "He deserves a ban for trying to get his fifth yellow card," the LaLiga chief said. "I'm going to work hard to ensure that football is free of tricks and cheating."
