After PSG’s failure to get past the last 16 of the Champions League for a second season running it seems inevitable that an overhaul will take place at the Parc des Princes this summer with current coach Unai Emery widely tipped to be handed his marching orders whatever domestic success he delivers.

There have been many possible replacements mooted to take the Spaniard’s job and French daily L’Èquipe ran a poll this week among fans to gauge their preferred candidate for the position.

Simeone the preferred successor to Emery

The clear winner, with almost double the number of votes than the second-placed candidate, Carlo Ancelotti, was Atlético Madrid boss Diego Simeone. Despite the Argentinean signing a new contract at the Metropolitano recently and his stated desire to return to Inter as manager one day, the Atlético coach’s stock remains high despite his side failing to get past the group stage after two Champions League finals in three seasons before the present campaign.
