Mourinho's treatment of Shaw may have broken a potential deal for Gareth Bale to United
Gareth Bale and Luke Shaw share the same agents and they are furious over how Shaw has been treated by Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United continue to pursue Gareth Bale almost from the day he swapped the white of Tottenham Hotspur for the white of Real Madrid. Since that summer of 2013, in almost every transfer window, the Welshman's names is linked with a move to Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho reportedly pushed for the attacker last summer but the 28-year-old didn't speak up, which the Portuguese said to him in the tunnel before a friendly in Los Angeles.
Bale's minutes have been limited with the emergence of Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez on the wings in Zinedine Zidane's new system and Manchester United are tipped to push for the player again. In the last few days, however, the behaviour of Mourinho towards Luke Shaw might have scuppered a deal. The Daily Mail report that Shaw's agent, who happens to also be Bale's agent, is furious with what they consider 'bullying' of the left-back and it puts a deal for the Welsh winger in possible doubt.
Stellar Football Group, the agency that both players are represented by, believe that the attack on Shaw after the Brighton game, in which Shaw was substituted at half-time, was excessive. Mourinho has had plenty of digs at Shaw in public before but the latest seems to have been the breaking point. Nobody doubts that this summer he will leave United but Bale's future is still uncertain.
