Thomas Tuchel will replace Arsene Wenger as manager of Arsenal FC at the end of next season, according to German media outlet Kicker.

Tuchel to chose Gunners over Bayern

The contract of the French coach expires in the summer of 2019 and the question of whether or not he extends his more-than two decades of service at the London seems now to have been answered.

Kicker's report follows on the back of another German outlet, Bild, who stated on Sunday that the former Borussia Dortmund coach has said "no" to taking over at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to instead move to the Premier League. The 2018-19 campaign is likely to see a replacement in Munich for Jupp Heynckes, who came in to turn things round after a disappointing spell on the bench for Carlo Ancelotti.

PSG and personal conflict barriers

Tuchel's decision is based on his desire to embark on a new stage outside of the Bundesliga, following his dismissal from Dortmund in May 2017, and the structure of Arsenal and the idea of working in the Premier League is attractive to him. However, there are other sources that suggest Ligue 1 is another option for the highly regarded coach. PSG have reportedly tested the waters with him regarding the possibility of him relieving Unai Emery who is not expected to continue after this, his second, season.

Another potential spanner in the works for a Gunners move is a conflict that Tuchel may have with one of the members of staff at the Emirates. The man responsible for global scouting, Sven Mislintat, and Tuchel had problems when they were both at Borussia Dortmund. That issue would need resolved one way or another to avoid future difficulties.
