Wales and Uruguay meet on Monday at 13:35 CEST to decide who wins the four-team China Cup. If Wales win, it would be the first international trophy that Gareth Bale (who scored a hat-trick in the nation's 6-0 win over hosts China) has won for his country, as well as the first tournament they have won since the 1937 British Championship, although they they did share the 1970 edition.

Bale carries the pride of a nation

This final throws up some interesting personal duels, like the match up between Diego Godín and Gareth Bale, potentially a taste of what is to come in Madrid derby on April 8 at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Gareth Bale normally keeps his hand close to his chest in his pre/post-match interviews, at least in Spain, but speaking with the BBC Real Madrid's Welshman stating that winning titles with his nation is "that bit more special" than with his club.

"Anything you do for your country is the pinnacle, it is the biggest honour you can have.

"To win any trophy is always good, but for your country it is that bit more special. It would be massive, You have it in your heart, in your blood, you want to make your whole country proud.

"So whether it's a tournament like we are in now, or whether it's a Euros or the World Cup, it's always important to win trophies.

"It will be very high up in the ranking I suppose but we still have a lot of work to do, a big game to come and as we said before it's going to be a challenge, it's going to be difficult but we believe if we play well we can win the tournament.

"Yes it would be great to have some more success with Wales and we will try to enjoy it as best we can."
