Memphis Depay, Ryan Babel, and Virgil van Dijk netted for the Netherlands in a clinical first-half performance against Portugal in Geneva, as Ronald Koeman secured his first victory in charge of the Oranje.
Portugal started the brightest, full of pep after a last-gasp victory over Egypt on Friday. Yet Memphis scored from the Netherlands' first meaningful counter-attack after 11 minutes. Babel doubled the lead with a bullet header shortly after the half-hour mark, and Liverpool's van Dijk made it three on the brink of half time with a crisp half-volley.
The match progressed at a pedestrian pace after the interval, not helped by a series of pitch invasions from fans in search of selfies. Portugal defender João Cancelo received a second yellow card after an hour to seal the fate of his team, as Cristiano Ronaldo failed to register a shot for the first time this season.
